A major port operator in Southeast Asia.

A leading port operator and logistics hub in a “Belt and Road” initiative country.
The client was undertaking a massive digital transformation to become a fully automated, smart port. This required deploying a vast, real-time data network to connect hundreds of new Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs), remote-controlled cranes, AI surveillance systems, and central control rooms. The existing copper network was insufficient. The new fiber optic backbone had to withstand a harsh coastal environment (high salinity, humidity, UV exposure), resist potential mechanical damage from heavy equipment, and allow for rapid, error-free deployment to minimize port operation downtime. Reliability was non-negotiable.

Yiwu Zhuda was selected as the primary optical cable supplier after a rigorous vetting process that highlighted our technical expertise and customization capability. Our team worked closely with the client’s engineers and system integrator to design a hybrid, multi-zone solution:

Outdoor Backbone & Duct Network: We supplied armored, water-blocked GYTA53-type cables with special anti-corrosion jackets for salt-mist resistance. These formed the main data arteries between control centers and key hub points.

AGV Route & Apron Area: For areas with constant vehicle movement and potential crush risks, we provided enhanced rodent-resistant and heavily armored direct-burial cables (GYFTY63/GYFTA53). Their robust design ensured signal integrity despite vibration and subsurface stress.

Custom OEM Integration: Critical cable runs required specific lengths and pre-terminated ends to connect directly to the AGV charging stations and crane control panels. Our OEM capability allowed us to deliver these custom-length, factory-terminated assemblies with the required connectors, labeled and ready for plug-and-play installation, drastically reducing on-site splicing work.

Deployment Advantage: The U.S.-patented REELEX packaging proved invaluable. Crews could quickly deploy long cable runs across the expansive terminal without fighting tangles or twists, accelerating the installation schedule by an estimated 20%.

Results & Client Feedback:
The new fiber optic network was deployed on schedule and within budget. It has provided the high-bandwidth, low-latency, and ultra-reliable foundation essential for the port’s real-time automation systems.

Zero Network-Related Downtime: Since commissioning, the fiber network has experienced zero failures, supporting 24/7 port operations seamlessly.

Future-Proof Scalability: The installed fiber backbone has ample capacity for the next phase of IoT sensor integration and 5G expansion.

Successful Partnership: The client’s project manager noted: “Zhuda was more than just a supplier; they were a technical partner. Their ability to provide customized cable solutions for different zones of our port, coupled with their responsive support, was critical to our project’s success. The quality of the cables and the efficiency of their packaging made a complex installation much smoother.”
